Where to find your figures

Find the deductible in the declarations or deductible endorsement. A percentage deductible lists a rate and the amount it applies to, often the Coverage A dwelling limit. Use the flat amount field for a deductible already stated in dollars.

How the math works

Multiply the policy amount by the percentage or use the flat dollar amount. Your share up to the deductible is the smaller of the deductible and the covered loss entered.

Worked example

A 2% deductible applied to $400,000 is $8,000. On an eligible $20,000 loss, $12,000 remains above that deductible.

What this estimate covers

Separate wind, hurricane, and named storm deductibles can have different triggers. The amount above the deductible is a calculation before other policy terms or limits.

Common questions

How much is a 2% wind and hail deductible?

It is $2,000 per $100,000 of the amount named in the policy. If the policy applies 2% to a $400,000 dwelling limit, the deductible is $8,000.

Is the wind deductible the same as the hurricane deductible?

Check the deductible endorsement for each trigger. Wind or hail, named storms, and hurricanes can have different deductibles depending on how the policy describes the event.
