Where to find your figures

Use the total premiums from your current declarations page and renewal offer. Match the policy term and check that the coverages, limits, endorsements, and fees are comparable.

How the math works

Subtract the current premium from the renewal premium. Divide the change by the current premium for the percentage. For the optional claim scenario, add each full deductible to its term premium.

Worked example

A $1,440 annual premium rising to $1,800 increases by $360 per year, or 25%.

What this estimate covers

The claim scenario assumes a covered loss large enough to use the full applicable deductible under either policy. The figures compare costs under your inputs. Review any coverage changes alongside the price.

Common questions

Can I compare a six-month premium with a twelve-month premium?

Use premiums for equal-length terms. If you annualize a six-month premium by doubling it, label that assumption when comparing quotes. The actual price of the next six months may change.

What should I check besides the renewal price?

Compare the declarations and endorsements line by line. Look for changes in limits, deductibles, discounts, and how the insurer settles a loss, such as a switch from roof replacement cost to actual cash value.
